My go to excuse is definitely "life got in the way", more specific: "after a long day at work my brain is just too tired to do any more thinking". Because of that since last week I've started waking up early and just doing my writing in the morning. It's such a cool way to start the day.
That's awesome! It's like you have your little alone time before the world wakes up. AND it's a great way to prioritize writing so you can't give yourself an opportunity to make the "life got in the way" excuse.
Hey Kate, this was an awesome read! I love how you talked about procrastination! That’s the main reason why I would skip a few days of my writing habit. And that procrastination would force me to make up excuses as to why I procrastinated lol. I also love how you brought up the pomodoro method! I used it in college a lot to study for exams and it worked wonders on me! I sort of do that with my writing now! Thank you so much the shoutout as well! I love our banter on Substack! Keep up the awesome work! 💪❤️
Thanks so much Khadejah! I'm in college now, so the pomodoro method is my miracle worker for studying and writing. It really helps me keep track of time and have a metric to really see how much I study! Thank YOU so much for the shoutouts in notes and for your work. It's been super helpful with reflecting on my own! Right back atcha', keep up the great work and keep being you🤩🫶
Thanks so much, Kate! I’m so glad you’re enjoying Spooky with Izel! Your newsletter is such a relatable read—especially when the writing struggle is real. I love your tips. Thanks for the recommendation; it really made my day! Can’t wait to read more of your work!
Of course Izel! I always love reading your tiny habit tips and scary stories on my lunch break. And no YOU made MY day with your recommendation. Can't wait to see more, and maybe we could do a collab in the future😁❤️
Thank you so much Jack! Reedsy is such a great and accessible resource, it's helped me a lot with my writing. (Also I have no idea. Maybe Substack is based in a different time zone further ahead than us??)

Yeah I know it's actually a great way to wake up. I feel my mood is better because I start the day doing something I love.
